After 12 years, initiating with the investment of USD 670 million for SEV factory in 2008, Samsung is recently the largest foreign investor in Vietnam with the total investment capital increased by nearly 26 times to over USD 17.3 billion. To date, the full presence of Samsung in Vietnam now includes 6 factories and 01 R&D Center, of which SEV (Bac Ninh) and SEVT (Thai Nguyen) are the two largest mobile phone manufacturers of Samsung in the world, SEHC (Ho Chi Minh City) is the largest home electronics factory in Southeast Asia, and SVMC is Samsung’s largest R&D Center in Southeast Asia. The new R&D Center under construction at the Tay Ho Tay urban area in Hanoi is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 and will increase the workforce from the current 2,200 to 3,000 employees.
The total export value of Samsung Electronics and the subsidiaries in Vietnam in 2019 reached about USD 59 billion, contributing nearly 23% to the total export turnover.
Along with its significant economic contributions, Samsung Vietnam has now created stable employments for 130,000 employees with steady income and outstanding welfare.
