As the only Vietnam International Supporting Industry and Manufacturing Exhibition under the Supporting Industry Development Program in 2021 approved by the Prime Minister, VIMEXP0 2021 continues to persevere with the goal “Connect to Develop”, promising to bring a new look to the organization both in quantity and quality.
Currently, supporting industry is growing rapidly and plays a pivotal role in the global supply chains. Simultaneously, the development of supporting industries will attract more quality investments. Therefore, Vietnam has proposed many major policies to promote the development of supporting industries, such as Decree No.111/2015/ND-CP on the development of supporting industries, including 6 targeted sectors: mechanical fabrication, automobile manufacturing and assembling, electronics, textile and garment, footwear and leather, and hi-tech industry. In 2017, the Government issued Decision No.68 on the Supporting Industry Development Program for the period 2016-2025, focusing on 3 main industries: Spare parts and accessories, textile-footwear, and hi-tech industry. In order to create a driving force for business development and capture greater domestic value addition, the Government also approved Resolution No.115/NQ-CP in August 2020 on promoting the development of Vietnamese supporting industries. The resolution sets out targets for supporting industries to become more competitive in the next decade, especially by 2025, there should be about 1,000 enterprises capable of directly providing supporting industrial products for assembling enterprises and multinational corporations in Vietnam. Recently, Vietnam has joined and signed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and many other free trade agreements (FTAs), leading to enormous demands for cooperation and development in investment activities, production and business operations, connections among domestic and FDI enterprises, foreign enterprises.
With the orientation “Connect to Develop”, VIMEXPO 2020 was the first Vietnam international exhibition on supporting industry and manufacturing, organized to concretize the Government’s Resolution No.115, proposing feasible solutions to promote the development of supporting industries in Vietnam. Because of such considerable significance, despite the fact that COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected production activities, consumption market and supply chain of raw materials for the manufacturing industry, VIMEXPO 2020 still received the great participation and support from state management agencies, governmental and non-governmental organizations, professional associations, domestic and international trade promotion organizations and leading enterprises operating in supporting industry. VIMEXPO 2020 attracted more than 170 exhibitors with around 250 booths on an area of 5,000 square meters. Mr. Le Minh Duc – Director of JK Vietnam Joint Stock Company stated: “In 2020, direct connection with foreign business partners is very limited. Through VIMEXPO, we have the opportunities to seek for new partners to cooperate in the near future…”, “The fact that enterprises participate in this exhibition is a favourable condition to introduce and promote solutions and new technologies in an intuitive way for customers, accordingly, they can apply immediately or prepare a plan for the future.” shared by Mr. Duong Hong Kien – Sales Representative of Nam Son Company in northern Vietnam.
